OpenAI aims ChatGPT at the work junior bankers do
· covered by 4 outlets · written by helucino from the reporting below
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored version of its ChatGPT Work product that pairs built-in financial data with the reasoning of its GPT-6 Astra model to produce research, financial models and client-ready materials. Unite.AI dates the launch to 10 September 2026, and is the only one of these four outlets to report a design partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, which it says helped OpenAI pinpoint where the product could do the most.
The four accounts differ on who it is aimed at. CNBC is the most direct, describing it as targeting the labour-intensive research, modelling and pitchbook tasks traditionally handled by junior bankers. SiliconANGLE describes the same product in terms of financial tasks such as analysis and calculations, with no reference to displaced work. OpenAI’s own announcement names no existing role at all.
